PIERCE TRANSIT TO UNVEIL PATRIOTIC BUS
Lakewood, WA – Riders and community members should be on the lookout for a Pierce Transit patriotic themed bus because it may be rolling through your community soon. Just in time for Memorial Day and summer season, Pierce Transit unveiled a patriotic themed bus to nearly 200 participants at the Downtown: On the Go! Military Walk, yesterday, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Downtown Tacoma. The bus went into regular service, today, May 21, 2015, and will serve routes throughout the system like any other bus in the Pierce Transit fleet.
“Very impressive” said Retired Army Veteran and Public Affairs Officer for JBLM Joe Piek upon seeing the bus for the firs time at the Downtown: On the Go! event. As soon as I walked up to the bus I was impressed with the degree of symbolism of our country and military” he continued. “As a veteran I very much appreciate it and I think every veteran and their family will too”.
This is not the first time Pierce Transit has decked out a bus in a certain theme. Pierce Transit has rolled out themed buses that included; The Puyallup Fair, Daffodil Festival, Point Defiance Zoo, the holiday season and Downtown: On the Go!
“Our customers and community greet themed buses with much fanfare. It has been some time since we last did one. Employees at the agency got really excited about the idea of a patriotic themed bus so we did it and we wanted to get it into service before the Memorial Day weekend,” said Kathy Walton, Marketing Manager for Pierce Transit.
The patriotic bus is expected to remain in service for two to three years, depending on weathering of the decals.
