Pierce County’s rapid growth is straining our local transit system. Pierce Transit’s primary funding source—a 0.6% sales tax—has remained unchanged since 2002.

We have developed a plan to expand local transit based on extensive community input, data, and long-range planning. Voters will have the opportunity to vote on this proposal in the November 3, 2026 General Election.

If a proposed 3¢ per $10 spent* sales tax increase is passed by voters, we have a plan to deliver what our community has asked us for: transit that serves more people, more places, more often.

Attend a community information session to learn about the proposed transit expansion, funding considerations, and how the plan could improve transit service throughout Pierce County. You can also visit the Pierce Transit booth at community events across Pierce County to ask questions, pick up informational materials, and learn more about the proposal.
