The City of Tacoma is currently repairing a broken concrete roadway panel and underground utility vaults located on South 9th Street between Commerce & Pacific Avenue. During this project, 9th Street will be closed in both directions between Commerce & Pacific Avenue. Traffic will be maintained heading north & south on Pacific Avenue and on Commerce, with both roadways remaining open.
Pierce Transit buses that regularly use 9th Street will be detoured during the street closure. Expect traffic delays around Commerce and in the surrounding area during morning and afternoon peak commute times. The Route 1 & 500 bus stop #2470 located on Pacific Avenue & South 11th Street will be closed during this detour. Customers can catch the Route 500 on Commerce and at the Route 1 bus stop located on 9th Street & Broadway.
