In-Person and Virtual Sessions on Shaping Pierce Transit’s Future

Pierce Transit is currently developing a draft package to expand local transit, shaped by years of community input, data, and long-range planning, all contingent on increased funding. A final package will be presented to the Pierce Transit Board of Commissioners in July. The package includes new bus routes, shorter wait times, quicker rides, later evening service, easier transfers, more direct trips, and expanded paratransit service.

The public is invited to join Pierce Transit for a community conversation about the future of local transit in Pierce County. The conversations will focus on Pierce Transit’s services—buses, SHUTTLE paratransit, Runner, and Rideshare—and the draft plan developed through community input.

At the sessions, Pierce Transit representatives will share information about potential service enhancements, funding considerations, and what’s being explored for the future. Participants will have the opportunity to review the draft package, ask questions, and provide feedback to shape what’s next.

There are several opportunities to engage:

  • Wednesday, June 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Tacoma Library, Main Branch, 1102 Tacoma Ave S, Tacoma, WA 98402, in the Carnegie – Cascade Board Room.
  • Friday, June 5 from noon to 1 p.m. and Thursday, June 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. online using Zoom.
