Expanding Local Transit

Pierce County’s rapid growth is straining our local transit system. Pierce Transit’s primary funding source—a 0.6% sales tax—has remained unchanged since 2002.
We’re currently developing a draft package to expand local transit, shaped by years of community input, data, and long-range planning. The Pierce Transit Board has not yet voted on whether to place a measure on the ballot. A final package will be presented to the Board in July.
If a proposed 3¢ per $10 spent* sales tax increase is sent to and passed by voters, we have a plan to deliver what our community has asked us for: transit that serves more people, more places, more often.
